HCFC flyers now available! Wednesday, 07 September 2011 UNEP DTIE OzonAction has come out with two new flyers to provide stakelholders with a general overview and basic information on HCFC phaseout.
The first flyer addresses HCFCs in the refrigeration sector while the second one deals with HCFCs in the foam sector. The flyers can be downloaded from this site and are available in English, French, Spanish and Chinese. EPA's Planned Phase out of Harmful Refrigerant Hits Snag Monday, 22 August 2011 After the Obama administration introduced new rules to stop refrigerants in air conditioners from thinning the ozone layer, five american companies wrote a letter to EPA Administrator saying the agency left a loophole in a 2009 rule to enforce the Montreal Protocol.

US EPA proposes Amendements to Leak Repair Regulations Tuesday, 21 December 2010 A webinar organised by the US EPA Greenchill Partnership discussed the new provisions and changes that the EPA is proposing to the existing 1995 regulations addressing refrigerant leak repairs and how this might impact supermarket commercial refrigeration. The overall objective of the project is to contribute towards the reduction of direct and indirect releases or emissions of ozone depleting substances (HCFCs) and greenhouse gases (HCFCs and HFCs) both through promotion of zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP) alternatives as well as promotion of best practices and better engineered and energy efficient technology.

Infos on HFCs

HFCs are fluorocarbons, used as replacements to HCFCs. Their emissions are controlled under the Kyoto Protocol. HFCs are GHGs but do not deplete the ozone layer
